The Power Company

Director’s responsibilities are governed by the company’s constitution and the Companies Act 1993. Directors’ roles include determining policies, preparing a Statement of Intent, Business Plan and Asset Management Plan, monitoring PowerNet’s performance, reporting to the shareholder (Southland Electric Power Supply Consumer Trust), publishing an Annual Report and ensuring PowerNet complies with legislation.

Peter Moynihan
Chair

Peter is chair of The Power Company Ltd, OtagoNet Governing Committee, Lakeland Network Ltd and a Director of PowerNet Ltd. His comprehensive understanding of balance sheets, trading performance, risk and how strategy and strategy implementation is vital for this industry.

James Carmichael
BE (Engineering) FEngNZ CMInstD

James is a director on the board of The Power Company Limited, and deputy chair of PowerNet, he has over 45 years’ experience in the development of large infrastructural projects

Wayne Mackey
B.E.(Electrical) MIEEE

Wayne is a director on the boards of The Power Company Ltd, PowerNet Ltd, Lakeland Network Ltd and a member of the OtagoNet Joint Venture governing committee. He has extensive industry knowledge through his experience leading an electricity network and related directorships.

Wayne McCallum

Wayne is a director of The Power Company Limited and an observer of the PowerNet board since September 2021. He has a background as an industrial electrician, with experience in industrial automation, asset management, lean manufacturing and de-carbonising of business operations.

Karen Sherry
QSM, BA, MA (Hons), LLB (Hons), C.FInstD

Karen was appointed to The Power Company board in August 2022, she is also a current director of the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority. Karen has had 28 years’ experience in governance in the electricity industry and in 2014 was awarded the Queens Service Medal for her services to the industry.

Murray Wallace

Murray commenced as a director of The Power Company Ltd in November 2022., he is also a director of PowerNet Ltd.
Murray brings over 15 years’ experience from operating in senior management roles in the export orientated wood manufacturing industries in Southland. He has extensive commercial experience in international markets.
