Board of Directors – Electricity Southland Limited
Electricity Southland’s Board is mirrored by the two shareholders, Electricity Invercargill Ltd and The Power Company Ltd.
Director responsibilities are governed by the company’s constitution and the Companies Act 1993. Their role includes determining policies, monitoring Electricity Southland’s performance, reporting to the shareholders and ensuring that Electricity Southland complies with relevant legislation.

Doug Fraser BSc (Chemistry)
Doug farms sheep and dairy cows on 595 hectares in Western Southland.
He is a director of Electricity Southland Ltd and a member of the OtagoNet Joint Venture governing committee. He is current chair of The Power Company Ltd.
Doug was also chair of Otago Power Services Ltd until its amalgamation with PowerNet on 31 March 2016. Previous governance roles include NZ Wool Board, Wools of NZ, Woolpro and AgITO.
Doug is a chartered fellow of the Institute of Directors.
Don is a director of Electricity Southland Ltd and The Power Company Ltd. He joined the board of PowerNet in 2015 and is the current chair. He is also a member on the OtagoNet Joint Venture governing committee.
From 1999 until 2011, Don was a trustee on the Southland Electric Power Supply Consumer Trust, and is currently trustee on the Environomics Trust.
While farming, active involvement in agribusiness advocacy saw him hold many roles in the primary sector, culminating as the national president of Federated Farmers of New Zealand from 2008 until 2011.
Don is a member of the Institute of Directors.
