Lakeland Network Limited

Lakeland Network Ltd (formerly known as Electricity Southland Ltd) is an electricity network asset company that was formed in March 1995 by EIL and TPCL.  It owns the Lakeland electricity network at Frankton in the Queenstown-Lakes area along with embedded networks in Wanaka, and Cromwell.  PowerNet is contracted to manage the network assets on its behalf.

The Lakeland network (LNL) assets comprise approximately 126 km of cables and 88 distribution transformers with a distribution capacity of 36.3 MVA. There are over 3,400 customers connected to the network, but this number is growing all the time as LNL reticulates new subdivisions and commercial developments, including Shotover Country, Lakes Edge, Remarkables Park, Shotover Park, Bridesdale Farm and Hanley’s Farm. LNL continues its management of embedded networks in Wanaka comprising of  and Northlake, Clearview and Hukiwai subdivisions, and the Wooing Tree subdivision in Cromwell.
