Getting connected
If you are building a new property, planning a dairy farm conversion, shifting a building and need it reconnected, demolishing a building, or upgrading your existing supply, you will need to make arrangements to connect to – or disconnect from – the PowerNet network. Our Connections brochure (PDF) can be downloaded.
Getting started
Prior to connecting any property to our electricity network we must be satisfied that the connection can be made safely without adversely affecting the delivery of electricity to other customers connected to the network.
PowerNet must ensure that sufficient capacity exists to accommodate the increased load of the new connection and that the electrical configuration is suitable.
Network Design and Installation Connection Standards
PowerNet’s Network Design and Installation Connection Standards are available to download below.

- Installation Connection Standard (PDF)
These documents are subject to regular review and may be updated from time to time. Please revisit the website regularly to ensure you are working from the latest versions.
Alternatively, you may register your details with PowerNet here so that you may be contacted when a revised version has been made available.
